The need to understand what needs to be done to prepare the business to be attractive to buyers to get the maximum value.  And financial planning — the tax impact, how to invest the proceeds of the sale, property, insurance — and so much more.  It takes time and effort, but business owners need to start by talking to a business intermediary/broker to get this long term process started.
